It's always fascinating to see how different regions across Canada experience their own unique housing market shifts. Right now, Calgary and Edmonton are showing signs of cooling, yet they're still buoyed by growing populations—a reminder that demand takes many forms. In British Columbia, we're noticing price declines, while Ontario’s story is a bit more varied from community to community. Over in Montreal, affordability is front and center as inventory rises and buyers weigh their options. Ontario HST rebate shields new home sales
The Ontario HST rebate continues to play a key role in supporting new home sales, especially for buyers navigating today’s shifting market. We’ve seen GTA single-family home sales reach 692 units—an impressive 47% above the 10-year average—with total new home sales at 907. Meanwhile, the benchmark price has dipped 14.6% year-over-year, opening opportunities for those looking to make their next move. It’s worth noting that condo sales have dropped, sitting 78% below average, partly due to the restrictions on tax incentives.
